Welcome to the 2010 Dorset Fire Bike Ride
12th/13th June 2010
The Dorset Fire Bike Ride © is a charity bike ride being organised in support of 3 fantastic charities. Help 4 Heroes, The Firefighters Charity, and The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
The challenge is for a core of cyclists to visit all 26 fire stations in Dorset in 24 hours. This is an approximate distance of 230 miles.
The event will be kicking off at 12:00 noon on the 12th June 2010 at Christchurch Fire Station. After the long 230 mile slog the ride will finish, 24 hours later, at Ferndown Fire Station.
The cyclists will fall into 3 categories:
The Elite Riders (also known as lunatics) - will be completing the entire 230 mile course in 24 hours.
Core Riders - will be split into 2 groups and complete alternate legs in relay style. Once a group completes a leg it will be transported to the start of the next leg by vans and minibuses. Using this system each group will complete approximately 115 miles (this mileage may change depending on the leg combination.)
Guest Riders - are welcome to join the ride and complete individual legs or a few consecutive legs. This gives riders the chance to customise their ride to suit themselves (the custom ride option must be approved by the event organisers and is not guaranteed).
Entries will be limited to 120 riders and will be on a first come first served basis. Places are only secured by completing the entry form and paying the £15 entry fee (all of which will go to charity)
